New Puzzler, 5/17/97:

RAY: I'm excited to hear this too.

TOM: I am too.

RAY: Now pay attention.

TOM: I will. I always do.

RAY: In 1918 a man was arrested for a crime and sentenced to life in prison. Thirty years later -- don't forget -- life in prison -- 30 years later with the help of a lifelong friend -- the prisoner comes up with an escape plan. The friend was to leave a get-away car in a nearby field -- the field by the prison. The escape goes like clockwork. The convict finds the car just where his friend said it would be and all he has to do is get in the car and drive away.

TOM: Oh I've got it already.

RAY: You spoil everything!

TOM: No, I've got the question and I've got the answer.

RAY: All right, go ahead.

TOM: He doesn't make it.

RAY: Duh!

TOM: And, why?

RAY: Duh Duh!

TOM: You want me to elaborate further? He can't start the car.

RAY: He can't start the car yet there is nothing wrong with the car and when he finally figures it out -- by the time he's figured it out...

TOM: They've shot him.

RAY: They've shot him dead like a dog.
